We are spending more time at home than ever before. Indoor plants are the perfect way to add some Zen to your home or office, creating an immediate calming sensation to the area.

Also, adding plants to a room helps purify the air in your home by filtering out everyday pollutants that surround us.

Peace Lily (feature image)

Got a dark room in your home with little to no sunlight? This is the plant for you! When it needs water, you will know the moment the leaves start to droop after watering which perks right back up. With its beautiful white flowers, this is a stunning plant which works well in most homes. The peace lily helps remove benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, toluene and xylene from the air.

Ficus

This popular house plant is staple for any indoor plant family! Just give this guy some bright light (can tolerate some direct sunlight) and a generous amount of space to be happy. This plant isn’t one to sit on a bookshelf or a small nook. A Ficus works well as a decorative or styling piece in a home due to its neat structural form.

Snake Plant

Looking for something that requires little to no looking after but still looks amazing? We have found the plant for you! Its low-maintenance and can survive with intermittent watering. Snake plants have also been shown to filter out nasty chemicals, like benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene, and toluene, so you can breathe easy having this in your home.

Spider Plant

Super easy to take care of, these spider plants prefer bright light but no direct sunlight. They prefer to have moist soil but seem to still thrive even when you forget to water them occasionally. Not given the credit they deserve for their ‘cool’ factor, the spider plant grows ‘baby spiders’ (spiderettes) which can be easily propagated and given as gifts. Keep in mind that they are a mild hallucinogen to cats, but safe for all other pets. Spider plants also remove benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and xylene from the air.

Dracaena – Happy Plant

Dracaenas are a great addition to any home with the space as they easily adapt to different light conditions. They add texture to indoor spaces through its variegated light and dark green leaves and unique bark. Don’t forget to keep your Dracaena away from your pets, as it presents different symptoms in dogs and cats if ingested. Forget to water your plants often? This plant does well even when you forget to water it on occasion.

Golden Pothos

Has every plant you’ve had died on you? You should give Golden Pothos a go! This climber does well with little light and doesn’t die on you if you forget to give it a watering. As one of the most common houseplants, the Golden Pothos is an attractive and easy to grow houseplant with air-purifying properties. Don’t worry if you’ve never grown anything before, these plants are very suitable for beginners. Start with one and add from there!
